HAI Group’s Risk Management Awards program celebrates excellence in safety and risk management through four distinct categories. These awards highlight exceptional initiatives and contributions that make a meaningful impact.
HAI Group is now accepting applications
HAI Group’s Risk Management Awards program features four categories that recognize outstanding work in a variety of safety and risk management initiatives.
New for 2026:
This year, we’ve expanded the program with three new award categories designed to recognize innovation, technology, collaboration, and organizational performance across the affordable housing industry.
We’ve also increased several award amounts from $500 to $1,000, with the Risk Champion of the Year Award increasing from $750 to $2,500.
The deadline to submit entries this year is Monday, August 17.

NEW! Community Partnership Award
Recognizes a housing organization’s most impactful collaboration with a local or community organization. This award honors partnerships that improve resident well-being, enhance housing services, or address critical community needs through shared resources, innovation, and mutual support.
The winner will receive an award of $1,000 paid to the housing organization.
NEW! Safety Innovation Award
Recognizes a housing organization that has implemented a new or innovative approach to enhancing safety for residents and/or staff. Whether through process redesign, community engagement, property redevelopment, infrastructure improvements, or technology, this award celebrates forward-thinking solutions that proactively address safety risks.
The winner will receive an award of $1,000 paid to the housing organization.
NEW! Best Use of Technology
Recognizes a housing organization that has successfully implemented innovative technology to strengthen risk management practices, improve operational efficiency, and enhance resident or staff safety.
The winner will receive an award of $1,000 paid to the housing organization.
Submissions will be evaluated by the HAI Group Risk Control and Consulting Department. The top five selected submissions for each category will be presented to HAI Group board and committee members for final selection.
To enter, you must be a member of the Housing Authority Risk Retention Group, Inc. (HARRG) or Housing Authority Property Insurance, A Mutual Company (HAPI). Programs designed by consultants or service providers are not eligible. Previous submissions are not eligible.
